St. Ignatius of Antioch

About - Orthodoxy
Feast day commemorated on December 20

The Hieromartyr Ignatius the God-Bearer, was a disciple of the holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. St Ignatius was the second bishop of Antioch, and successor to Bishop Euodius, Apostle of the Seventy.

Tradition suggests that when St Ignatius was a little boy, Jesus hugged him and said: "Unless you turn and become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven" (Mt. 18:3). The saint was called "God-Bearer" (Theophoros), because he bore God in his heart and prayed unceasingly to Him. He also had this name because he was held in the arms of Christ, the incarnate Son of God.

About - St. Ignatius Church

Started as a mission over 25 years ago, St. Ignatius Church is the only Orthodox church under the jurisdiction of the Antiochian archdiocese in the Windsor Essex region. Today, St. Ignatius Church is at a new location housing both the current St. Ignatius parish and the former St. Elias parish.

Our Divine Liturgy is celebrated in Arabic and some English primarily catering to the needs of Arab Orthodox parishioners and first generation immigrants.

The church follows the traditional St. John the Divine Liturgy and Byzantine rites.

Everyone is welcome to visit and join us in the prayers. We aspire to extend our Liturgical services to include English versions and cater to all those wishing to join the Orthodox Church. For more information please contact the parish priest.
